A Good Summary

- is clear to someone who has not read the original material.

- maintains good paragraph structure, with a topic sentence identifying the title/author of the original.

- gives only the main ideas of the original.  Omit unnecessary details, dates, figures, etc. unless essential

- paraphrases, with no direct quotes from the original.

- is concise, not wordy.
- follows the same order as the original when possible.

- is objective.
