Hypothetical situation: In 1985, Canadian inventor Gordon MacLeod invented a car engine that ran entirely on water and required no oil or gas; however, the engine was never developed for consumers.  How would the world be different now, and how would modern history at the turn of the 20th century have been different had this car engine been mass marketed, greatly decreasing the world's dependence on oil?
