How does technology influence language?  Many people feel that our adoption of texting, Facebook, and Twitter as popular means of communication has negative effects on language, particularly on our ability to write.  How much or little do you agree/disagree with this statement?

Choose an environmental issue of particular concern to your country and write a short essay of 250 to 300 words suggestion three possible solutions to this problem.  

Avoid the easy answers.  Follow the format that we discussed in class.  Be sure that you have a clear thesis statement stating your three main points.  Vary the length and style of your sentences.  Is your writing simply functional, or is it interesting?

The International Cultural Exhibition (I.C.E.) is a two-week festival of cultural diversity celebrating the unique food, art, and traditions from around the globe.  Each year, the I.C.E. is hosted in a different city, showcasing the local cuisine and customs.  It is a draw for tourists and industry professionals alike.
